Prayer for Labor Day
On this weekend, when we rest from our usual labors, loving Father, we pray for all who shoulder the tasks of human labor—in the marketplace, in factories and offices, in the professions, and in family living.
We thank you, Lord, for the gift and opportunity of work; may our efforts always be pure of heart, for the good of others and the glory of your name.
We lift up to you all who long for just employment and those who work to defend the rights and needs of workers everywhere.
May those of us who are now retired always remember that we still make a valuable contribution to our Church and our world by our prayers and deeds of charity.
May our working and our resting all give praise to you until the day we share together in eternal rest with all our departed in your Kingdom as you live and reign Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
(Thank you, Archdiocese of Detroit)
A Prayer for a New School Year
We thank you for the opportunity
to begin this new school year,
and we ask that you bless
the students, faculty, and student families
that make our school a great place.
We pray that you will guide us in your ways,
so that we will seek your will
in everything that we do,
and love others as you love us.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Prayer Before A Test
Be with me as I begin this exam.
Thank you for the many talents and gifts you have given me,
and for the opportunity of education.
Calm my nerves and lessen my anxiety.
I have studied; now help me to express it clearly
and to answer the questions to the best of my ability.
Holy Spirit, be with me in a special way during this exam.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
A Prayer for All Going to Prom
Lord God, thank you for this opportunity to get dressed up
and have fun with friends as we eat, dance, and laugh at Prom.
Please keep us safe this evening,
and give us strength to avoid temptations for any and all
activities that would harm our relationship with you.
May we be good role models in how we act, in what we say,
in what we do and in how we dance.
But also rejoice with us as we have fun.
We pray this in your holy name, Amen. (ccase)
A Prayer for Those
Not Going to Prom
Lord God, even though I will not be going
to the dance tonight,
I ask that you watch over and protect
those who are.
May they be safe and able to stay faithful to you.
I also ask that you watch over me and
all those who are
not going to prom either by personal choice,
parent's choice, or not being invited -
no matter what the reason,
please grant us a fun evening as well.
No matter what I decide to do tonight,
help me to look back with fond memories.
Thank you for all my blessings Lord.
In your holy name, I pray. Amen. (ccase)
