Evangelization and Youth
Resource for Youth and Evangelization
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring [the] good news!” (Romans 10:15)
Proclaiming the Good News: Resources for Evangelizing the Young Church continues the conversation begun when Called to be Witnesses and Storytellers was published in 1993. While the principals set forth in the original document have not lost their vibrancy or validity, this new paper mines the wealth contained in recent church documents including Pope John Paul II’s call for a “new evangelization.” Proclaiming the Good News: Resources for Evangelizing the Young Church applies these insights to the central issues surrounding youth evangelization today.
In addition to Proclaiming the Good News: Resources for Evangelizing the Young Church, various resources have been developed to provide youth ministry leaders with the tools to apply the theology, theory, and concepts presented in the paper to actual ministry situations and settings. This “toolkit” offers a collection of practical suggestions, ideas, and approaches for doing the work of evangelization with today’s young people. The kit (soon to be available on NFCYM.org) focuses on six broad areas to serve as lenses for evangelization.

“Evangelization with young people is about sharing the Good News of the Gospel that they may celebrate and treasure the God who has given them life and that they may be transformed to be life-givers through the power of Jesus and the Holy Spirit in today’s world” (Leadership for Catholic Youth Ministry, St. Mary’s Press © 2009, p. 214.)
Students from the Diocese of Youngstown will be joined with students from the Diocese of Baton Rouge, LA to share ideas with adults in youth ministry with a different area of the country, thus expanding the possibilities for sharing insights and ideas via discussion boards and a live webinar session.
